Play Sings “Time Of Your Life” by Green Day

We notice in the past few days many of you have commented that you would like to hear how we sounded during our recent trip to LA and NY. A clip has been posted on youtube of us performing the song Time of Your Life. We thought you might be interested in a little of the background. As many of you know, Play has always enjoyed performing acapellas and when we meet new people we usually perform in that manner so people can really hear how we sound. Three days before our recent trip we received a call from some of the television people with whom we are working stating that we had to be ready to perform the song Time of Your Life by Green Day. It was not a request, it is an order! So we quickly had to learn the words and create our own vocal arrangement. That is something which normally takes alot of time and practice, but in this case we only had three days. When we arrived in LA we were still perfecting the sound so we were a little unsure of ourselves. When we sang we alternated doing that song with Not The One and Too Lost In You. But the more we performed Time Of Your Life during the trip the more we liked it and became comfortable singing it. We would practice in the car on the way to our many meetings. The clip you will see on youtube was from the later part of our trip when we were in New York and by then we felt comfortable. The visual on this clip is not great but the accoustics in the room were good so the sound is good and it will give you a chance to hear how we sound. Another thing that was positive about this clip is the previous week when we were in LA Emelie had a cold for much of the week but she was feeling much better by the time we reached New York and so her voice was its normal strong and beautiful self. You may find it funny to see how bundled up we were since it was only 18 degrees in NY during that day, and we had just come from LA where it was 80 degrees and we were wearing shorts and were outside most of the time. Our next video we post will be from LA and you can see the contrast. You have a very interesting country, where it can be 80 degrees in one place while it is 18 degrees in another. Sweden is very small and at this time of year it is cold and dark everywhere.

Hope this gives you a little insight on the creation of our latest acapella and that you like it when you listen to the youtube clip. Thanks for all your continuing support.

They do sound good together. I couldn’t hear well enough to pick out Emilie’s voice though, but the more news I hear, the more pictures I see with the girls looking happier than ever, I’m actually getting excited about the new Play. :)

    IMPORTANT QUESTION!!

HOpe this is not a dumb question but…. is there any possibility of recovering one of the older songs that would fit the group well now like

“lets get to the love part”
    or
    “just a little”
    “11 out of 10″

I think would be great on the EP along with the new songs
I know there is legal stuff… and I don’t know if Columbia records still owns the songs or if they ever did.

I personally don’t think that that is dumb question. I think a lot of other people would like to hear them re-vamp some of the classics (the other day I read a comment that said they would like to hear them sing “I must not chase the boys”).
I’d think it’d be cool to hear them come up with some new rendition. In a corny way, it would be nice to see all 6 get together and hear them do some new version of “Us Against the World” lol :)

This sounds AMAZING! I remember hearing Sanne in “Under My Skin” when she sings towards the end, the “NO! NO! NO!” part, and I was blown away by that but after hearing this, WOW. She can WAIL! lol
I think I am more excited than I was when got back together last year.

  6. Steve says:

That was awesome! Can’t wait to hear more! :)

  7. Shannon says:

Actually I would love to hear a new version of “11 out of 10″ it’s one of my favorite songs of all time, litteraly.

  8. Hannah says:

PLAY is AMAZING!!! Honestly the best!!! I can already see them being HUGE in the U.S!!!! Sanne can totally do all of Faye’s parts perfectly and Emilie is GORGEOUS!!

  9. Brittany says:

GIRLS, THAT WAS AMAZING!!!! ♥ I WANT TO SAY MORE BUT I CAN’T FIND WORDS TO SAY CAUSE I’M SO BLOWN AWAY!!!

  10. Jessi says:

Gosh seriously, could I just point out that Sanne has such an amazing voice? Fell in love with her vocals when I listened to Ghost VS. Sanne ages ago, but GOODNESS. Totally loving it. E is gorgeous. Their harmonies and what not are fantastic.

  11. Matty says:

I would also ABSOLUTELY LOVE to hear them re record one or more of the older songs! And if there was a way for them to work it out just for “old time sake” perform “us against the world”, I would love that! :)
