I thought it would be best to make a new post with some important information that is being talked about in the comments! There are a lot of exciting possibilities for Play and their launch in the US!
- The girls have been very well received by everyone and the prospects look very good for their launch in the U.S. next year hopefully in the Spring or early summer.
- There is a major label that has expressed great interest in signing them, but since that would likely mean starting over with a new album and a long delay while they get around to doing it, the girls are leaning towards having the distribution arm of that same company distribute Under My Skin in North America. The album would likely be tweaked by deleting two or three songs and adding two or three new tracks.
- The key thing to know is that many big companies and key people want to work with them, and there seems to be a general feeling that timing-wise the U.S market is right for a new big girl group to emerge and many people seem to feel that talent-wise Play should be that group.
- The girls are placing a very big emphasis on television. There are three good production companies who are competing to sign the girls to develop a television series. The television people all seem to think the girls are beautiful and talented and that being from Sweden makes them a bit different and exotic.
- The trip to New York in December is still on, and we are in negotiations right now for Play to possibly perform at a second very major event during that same trip that would be televised throughout the U.S. and worldwide.
- They met with Jeff Timmons who was one of the members of 98 Degrees. Anders Bagge wrote many of their biggest hits, and Jeff is very loyal to Anders (and a really nice guy as well). Jeff is also a big fan of Play and has offered to use his connections and expertise to help the group.
- Upcoming meetings include two more television production companies and a meeting with the woman, Leslie Armour, who is big in the branding world and who years ago got Play their deal with Limited Too. She is working on a new opportunity for the girls with a cool clothing line like H&M or Forever 21.
- On Friday, the plan is for one of the production companies to follow the girls around with a film crew to get some good footage of them. Lots of good things happening. The girls will return to Sweden on either Saturday or Sunday, though they may be back again later in November.

Nobody is trying to make her sound selfish, but the fact of the matter is she’s left before and it set the group back tremendously. And both times now it’s when they are in the U.S., I totally respected Faye’s reasoning when she was 16 but they are not kids anymore and I think what makes it look bad to most people is the fact that Sanne and Anais are out in the U.S. going to all these meetings regardless of how they may or may not be feeling each day, or how home sick they may get. It’s their careers and they are taking it seriously, they aren’t letting anybody down. It’s a tough business and you HAVE to be dedicated to make it in this business. Everyone who’s ever really made it in the entertainment industry had to make massive sacrifices and be far away from home and loved ones for very long periods of time in order to do it. They are a group, a unit and she should stand by the other girls through it all, unless of course something serious happend, or she had some really important things to attend to at home. But if that was the case you would think somebody would say “Faye’s still with us, don’t worry about it” and this whole hubub about it would stop. They wouldn’t have to say WHAT she’s doing…
But going back to what I said before about being a group..That’s really what it boils down to…And there are 2 original members that worked just as hard and were just as much a part of Play as Faye/Fanny was that could be with them today but aren’t. I don’t like to point fingers, especially when we are not in Play, we’re fans and long time supporters of each of these girls and that’s also why the whole Anna not being included upset everyone. It ended with us being told that Faye/Fanny was the one that told Anna she was not to be a part of the reunion, and it was at that point that Rosanna dropped out. Since then Rosanna and Anna have been hanging out in NYC, they’ve always been really close so it spoke for itself lol.
Either way, in the end what matters is each girls happiness and fulfillment and if they’re all happy and healthy than that’s all we can hope for :)
I agree. I think at least part of the reason everyone is upset is because the reason we were given for Anna not being asked back was that her commitment level wasn’t right and that the girls would be focusing on Sweden. Now, not even a year later, they’re signing on for all of these projects in the US and Fanny’s the one missing commitments. It just seems like a double standard.
I really don’t want to people to think that I’m demanding answers from Fanny because honestly we are fans, not her best friends. We don’t know her as a person, we know her as an artisit. However, as someone that supports her artistic ability with my money by buying things that she/Play are apart of I feel that asking for a SIMPLE statement saying that she is coming back is not too much to ask. This break could be to figure out what she wants to do with her life, it could be to take a vacation before the chance is gone, it could because of personal upset… we don’t know and I DON’T NEED TO KNOW. That is 100% not what I’m asking for. All I ask (I’m sure most of you would agree) is that we know if she is returning. If you look at the album sales after Fanny left when she was 16, they tanked. That is the truth no disrespect to the other girls, it is just what happened and I think it is because the direction of the group changed. I don’t think that the group will be able to pull the pieces back together if only one original member is still there because then it is no longer Play. And that right there is why people are so upset because many of us are the same age as these young women, we grew up with them, we identify with them. To have it seemingly end before it truly begins would stink and that is why it is so important that we get news on this as soon as possible. The longer they wait the less certain the fans are in their future and who wants to invest in something that might not happen.
I wouldn’t say them being from Sweden makes them ‘exotic’. It’s bloody freezing up there! ;)
I think if they had to ditch 2 sings they would have to be Personal Victory & Not The One (even though I do like them) and would LOVE to hear more tracks – 10 tracks is so 2004 lol.

I think the reason why they tanked after Faye left aside from the fact she was the voice everyone was so used to for years, was the fact that Janet was several years younger than the rest of them, so instead of a natural evolution into a more mature audience and sound, they took steps backward and went back the tween audience, when most of their fans had moved on from that.
A statement or an explanation will be give when they are ready. Wether “they” means Faye herself, the other girls or their management, they’re the who are involved in their career. They decide what we know and when we know. People need to stop taking it personally. Although they have a great relationship with their fans, at the end of the day this is their job and certain decisions need to be looked at from a business standpoint. Clearly for the time being, in their eyes, there is nothing we need to know. I think we should trust the decision of the girls and their management to keep us in the dark. Hopefully something good will come out of this, because the girls look like they have so many amazing things lined up at the moment. I wish the best for them all.
