“Under My Skin” Live in Edsbyn

Play performed “Under My Skin” at Permässan on Friday! I think this is only the 2nd time we’ve got to see them perform this song live!

I think this performance was better than last time! I like how they were having the crowd get into it too!

Faye started losing her voice a few times during the ad-libs near the end. I hope her voice is okay!! I’m sure it is. Fanny’s voice is one of PLAY’s main secret weapons! Good performance though. More energy would have been good too. You can see that Anais and Sanne tried to move during the performance so they wouldn’t be just standing there, but it wasn’t quite enough. Maybe Under My Skin needs some dancing/choreography. Anyway I love how at 1:19 Faye did that ad-lib leading into her verse, that sounded good. At 1:18 Sanne said “break it down!” That was cool lol And at 1:24 on “Next thing I know she’s blowing my man a kiss” Sanne blew a sexy kiss to illustrate! Nice!

Great performance…They seem to be getting ‘braver” every time they perform (I mean more energy, more moves, trying to get the crowd to participate..which is great !!!!)
It just needs a better choreography (I’m not saying it was bad.. it’s just to get the crowd’s attention and stand out (you know- more moving on the stage..backwards as well..)
But I loved it anyway !! Very much !! Great job PLAY! :)

    Hey Red Mann..

Just relistened to it and I don’t hear Faye miss a note! She nailed it :)
Are there any more videos from this show yet?

  5. Lisa says:

I haven’t found any others yet :( I want to see more too!

    @ Josh from New Orleans:
Oh maybe I was wrong then. Lol ah well. My mistake. Yes she nailed it!

Oh, I also think it’d be cool for them to walk around the stage sometimes when they sing. You know, like when Sanne sings, she’ll walk around some, and when Fanny sings, she walks around, and same with Anais. And like on different parts of the song one of them can kneel down and sing to someone or some folks in the audience as if they were having a conversation with them. Those are just a few ideas, but there’s a lot you can do. You know just some things they can do to be mobile on stage that way they don’t have to stand in the same spot the whole time.

Do you think Play will maybe dance on stage again like they used to do? I know Fanny and Anais can dance because they’ve done it before, and Sanne can definitely learn. I’m sure she can do it too. I had to mention dancing because I just imagined Play doing some awesome dancing while performing Girls and Trash, lol

  7. Josh from New Orleans says:

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see them perform and have a choreographed dance to Show Me What You Got. That would be HOT HOT HOT! haha

I can already see them performing

    Loved the performance!

I think “Girls” could have some amazing choreography going on!

Also, if they need any ideas for a video for it, I have a great one hahaha

Anna still working on her book. From facebook “Had a great lunch with girls!! Now I’m working on my book :) Back to NYC on saturday!!”

This song is definately one of the songs that “tests” Sanne and Faye (especially Sanne).
Since the chorus is so high,it’s almost like she’s singing “lead” but it’s just how high the notes are :-)
i was shocked to hear her 3:08 hit that High F#…thats usually “faye territory” she did well! :-)

  12. Red Mann says:

Sanne is a good singer but imo she’s not quite great at doing really high note ad-libs live. That 3:07-3:08 high note Sanne did didn’t sound good to me, but everything else Sanne sang did sound good. When they sang Trash live at Kungsträdgården, Sanne’s ad-libs at the end were great, just not this time to me. Faye was awesome at Kungsträdgården (well Faye is always awesome), and Faye at 2:20 – 2:29 was great, but then at 2:52 when she goes, “oh but no no no no nooooooooo” on that long “no” part I can’t hear her voice for about 2 seconds, and then she finishes it off and I hear her just fine. But anyway they’re already great singers, and this kind of singing is what will make them even better singers because yes it challenges them. PLAY’s performances are always so exciting especially vocally because they put out so much. Awesome!

Because I’m a singer (and a dork), I’ve tried all of the “crazy Faye riffs” (or CFRs, as I call them in my head), and I think that this is one of the hardest. She definitely got through it, but it sounded like she was struggling a little. One thing I noticed about her performances with the original Play is that she took in more air than she needed (it was a bad habit of mine as well). She’s much better with it now, but in this performance it was coming back. Luckily, Sanne picked up the slack for her near the end.

  14. Ashley Wool says:

And in case you were wondering (you weren’t, but I’m gonna tell you anyway), when it comes to the CFRs, here are the top 3 most difficult, in my not-so-humble opinion.

-”Under My Skin” – like I said, that last chorus is killer
-”Not the One” – “you’ll never get the chance to make it right”
-”Hopelessly Devoted” – Again, that last chorus is killer…not that she was 13 or anything.

  15. Brittany says:

Yeah but no singer is gonna be absolutetely 100

Yeah but no singer is going to be absolutely 100% perfect on their vocals all the time…Faye is definitely on my list for most powerful female voices of all time…Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely ♥ all six girls’ voices!!! I can’t choose my favorite member because each girl’s voices are special in their own ways!!! That’s why I’ve been a HUGE fan of PLAY for so long!!!

& Ashley, I sing a lot too & a hard CFR for me to hit is the “Honey To the Bee” bridge. lol
