“Under My Skin” Live in Edsbyn

Play performed “Under My Skin” at Permässan on Friday! I think this is only the 2nd time we’ve got to see them perform this song live!

I don’t know why that unfinished sentence on top of my comment is there. I thought I deleted it. Sorry about that!

HAHA! CFRs, LOL. You’ve given Faye’s vocal acrobatics their own acronym, that’s too funny. XD. You don’t mind if I start using that acronym too do you? Hey in fact it might catch on among all fans in the PLAY fan community. Well They’re getting tons better at the last chorus of Under My Skin. This time already sounded better than last time imo. Faye totally has “You’ll never get the chance to make it right” during Not the One. She nails that every time. I just want to throw it out there; the CFRs on the last half of “Just A Little” are awesome.

Yeah, wow, “Honey to the Bee” is a rough one too. But I don’t think that song would work as well with the new lineup; Anna and Rosie brought that honeybee-sweet sound to the group, and Sanne doesn’t do honeybee-sweet, haha.

Come to think of it, I’ve been wondering if the girls were going to revive any of the old Play repertoire for the group’s new lineup. Of course, many of the old songs are too juvenile, and others don’t work as well without 4-part harmony, but I think some of them could definitely still work, like “Cinderella” and “11 Out of 10.” And it would make my life if they ever performed “2 Blocks Down.”

Ladies, label, management, are you listening? ;-)

  4. Ashley Wool says:

@Red Mann – Yes, by all means, spread the acronym!

And let’s not forget the CJRs too–I’m thinking specifically of “only you can break the chaaaaaaaaiiiiiin!” and that jaw-dropping “O Holy Night.”

  5. Brittany says:

Yeah Janet nailed some crazy riffs too!!! & don’t forget the CSR’s!!! Sanne hit some crazy riffs on the album, especially on Under My Skin!

  6. Lisa says:

Hahah I’m loving these acronyms for the girls lol

  7. AnnaLova15 says:

ROTFL! @ acronyms! i love it!

Janet is good! me personally, i like the adlibs they did on the very first “under my skin” performance (well atleast Faye) she did her highest “heard’ note in that performance, and it was jaw dropping to hear she could even go that high “no no no noooooooo eyyyyyyEY (3:01 in the first performance at Uppsala) I believe Sanne did better in this one,she took a “risk” with the F#…

RANDOM: but i really hear the Anais sing the “and there she goes” part up in the same register as Sanne and Faye :-P i bet she has some belting skills!

This too funny, lol. My favorite CSR is on Under My Skin. Those were great! The CSR on Trash is good too.
My favorite CFR is like all of them (so many), but especially on Us Against the World, Just a Little, 11 out of 10, Trash, Not the One (truly amazing CFRs on that one), and When Love is Bleaching Bad (so wonderful CFRs).

@ Ashley Wool: YES if they ever decide to perform any of their old song they should definitely do “11 out of 10″!!! And also yes 2 Blocks Down and I’d love to hear Just a Little live, because it’s such an urban R&B-ish club jam and I loooove it. That would be awesome and sexy live.

I finally tracked down the last performance of “Under My Skin,” and this new one is far better, especially from Faye. She’s gonna have this one in the bag by the time she comes back across the Atlantic.

By the way, is anybody else still not used to calling her “Fanny?”

  10. Brittany says:

@Ashley Wool – I’m pretty well used to it since I’ve known she’s wanted to go by Fanny for a while now…But since we know her as Faye, I wonder if she’ll go by Faye or keep Fanny when PLAY goes to the states?

  11. Courtney says:

I was wondering that too, Brittany. In the “thank you” video she said “Faye” but i’m pretty sure that was because she was speaking to mostly old US fans. I do hope she keeps her real name Fanny still because i like it and it shows she has grown and her swedish roots. :)

On another note- i do hope they add more choreography for this song because just standing up there singing isn’t going to keep US audiences interested like it does in sweden. They need to get fearless again and go for it with dance and crowd pumping like they used to.

  12. Red Mann says:

@ AnnaLova15: Anais has a really good sounding singing voice and she can sing good low and can also go kind of mid-tier and sound really good as well. I don’t think she’s a belter like Fanny but that’s fine because she sounds great. Anais fills the lower registers in the harmonies and that’s important so that the haromies will sound more solid and well rounded tone-wise. Anais does that very well. I wish she would sing louder though-like even though she’s primarily an alto she could sing “louder” so that she could be heard better. I love to hear Anais sing because I love the sound of her voice.

^ @ 4:51 they sing Not the One acapella and you can hear Anais very well! And her singing voice is great.

^ Same here. This is their Trash performance at Kungsträdgården. You can hear Anais sing well in this performance. During her solos she sounds great. This video also shows her singing higher notes. I still wish she would sing a bit louder

^ This is Not the One from Nyhetsmorgon. She sings lower notes in this performance and again she still sounds great. I think she just needs to work on singing louder.

Still Anais voice is special and she sounds so good when she sings what she’s good at singing. I personally love to hear her singing the lower notes the most (like her solos in “Not the One” and her solo on “When Love is Bleaching Bad), because that’s when she sounds the best. :-)

Ahh I love PLAY. All of the girls can sing! And when they sing together it’s like—music to my ears! lol

  13. Red Mann says:

About the whole Fanny/Faye thing, I’m fine with calling her Fanny. Personally I prefer Faye but if she wants to go by Fanny now then that’s cool too. Occasionally I might slip up and call her Faye though lol.

    Redd Man:
I know she has place and tone in the group…i disect every little performance.
but when i hear her in “Winter Wonderland” it makes me wonder a lil bit :-P…cuz that’s probably the highest she’s ever recorded lol
