Yeah and one more comment…why would anyone take issue with their “pop” sound?? That POP sound is what’s popular right now in the U.S. Just what “sound” do you think Lady Gaga is? Yeah, POP. And Kesha’s songs are having a ton of success and what “sound” do you think her songs are? That’s right, it’s POPPY. Courtney your comments are really absurd. You’re just blabbing… Pop, R&B, and hip-hop will always be popular in the U.S.

Lady Gaga and Ke$ha both have a totally different pop sound than PLAY. Both artists are more “outrageous” (clothes, songs, lyrics) than PLAY. They are two different types of artists. PLAY have always been about younger pop sounds that preteen/teen girls can dance and sing along to and actual singing talent and Gaga and Ke$ha are about entertainment and shock value with everything they do. Swedish pop and US pop are different. My comments can’t be that “absurd” since they finally admitted they won’t be coming here anytime soon (maybe not at all) and that it’s all about Sweden (and maybe Europe in the future) this time.

Redman, I think you are absurd. Pop is not just pop. There are many flavors of pop. You probably don’t know this, but there is underground music that is better than the mainstream. Why??? Because it is not necessarily about the talent. Labels are looking for music that sells. And guess what, girls groups are not selling. Look back at what type of music was popular among the different decades and you will see music popularity changes. The more outrageous singers are selling. Sorry to disappoint. Even Play says they are not coming to the US right now, so it doesn’t matter what you think will sell

Famous and Girls are pop and they would do great in America if they had great videos (and if the girls didn’t get any hesitant notions for being foreign). Every artist is a different type artist. Yeah teddy actually I already did know there is underground music that is better than mainstream music, so how do you look now? Ha. There’s also mainstream music that’s better than underground music. There is some music from everywhere that is better than music from anywhere. That’s wasn’t the issue but yeah. You’re right, labels are looking for music that sells, and if the music is good with good videos and if the artist is marketed correctly the music will sell regardless of whether it comes from a solo artists or a group, because like you said, labels are looking for MUSIC that sells. And you’re wrong, it’s not all about being outrageous. The success and continued success of artists like U2 and Taylor Swift prove you wrong.

Yes I know they’ve decided not to come to the US, that’s not the issue. I’m saying it’s not an automatic “no chance of success” if they DID come to the US just because they’re a girl group or because of their music. Their music is good enough to be successful in America if they got with the right people and were marketed right, along with good videos and performances. And that they’re a girl band is irrelevant.
